Wabi-Sabi is a Japanese word representing the beauty of all things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
I've been challenged to a weekly sketch initiative! Every Monday I will do a small oil painting from life. I have an hour time limit and I can only use big brushes. This week I toned my board with my usual Raw Sienna. This is week #1.
Here's a video of 57 minutes of me painting condensed into 34 seconds.

Here’s my newest painting! In this painting I really wanted to re-explore an old theme of mine that shows books coming to life.
Inspired by my recent trip to San Francisco, I fell in love with energy and life of the city. I imagined traveling through the city and "carrying" all my literary friends with me.

'Twas the night before the very first Christmas when all through the town, Not a creature was stirring, there was not a sound.
Here is a beautiful retelling of the birth of Jesus on that joyous night in Bethlehem so long ago. The poem begins with the arrival of Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem and winds through Christ’s birth, the angels’ appearance to the shepherds, and the visit by the Wise Men. The simple, yet elegant, verses will appeal to little ones and are accompanied by the rich oil illustractions of Christine Kornacki.
